No que respeita à história da moda masculina moderna, nenhuma década foi tão aventureira e experimentalista quanto a década de 70.

Depois de anos de um estilo dominado por fatos clássicos e cores escuras, de repente o guarda roupa masculino ganha cor (e vida). Tornando-se expressivo, vibrante e luxuoso.

Obviamente, houve percalços pelo caminho. Notem-se aqueles terríveis sapatos de plataforma.

Mas toda essa vibe fazia parte do experimentalismo da época, onde os homens não tinham medo de vestir o que fosse, desde que chamasse a atenção.

Celebridades como Elton John, Marvin Gaye e Mick Jagger e David Bowie (referindo apenas alguns), adotaram este estilo de abordagem mais ostensiva, onde eram frequentes fatos em veludo e camisas desabotoadas (até ao umbigo) e misturas improváveis de cores e padrões.

Numa linha mais clássica dos 70s, encontramos ícones de estilo que se mantêm até hoje: Paul Newman, Steve McQueen, Yves Saint Laurent e Robert Redford.

O cabelo usava-se abundante, bigodes grossos e o Studio 54 em Nova Iorque era o "sítio" onde ser queria estar (e ser visto).

Esta atitude desempoeirada e “sem vergonha” na moda masculina tem visto um renascimento em designers como Alessandro Michele da Gucci, Tom Ford e Hedi Slimane (atualmente na Céline).

As far as the history of modern men's fashion is concerned, no decade has been as adventurous and experimental as the 1970s.

After years of a style dominated by classic suits and dark colors, suddenly the male wardrobe gains color (and life). They become expressive, vibrant and luxurious.

Obviously there were mishaps along the way. Notice those terrible platform shoes.

But all this vibe was part of the experimentalism of the time, where men were not afraid to wear anything, as long as it attracted attention.

Celebrities such as Elton John, Marvin Gaye and Mick Jagger and David Bowie (referring to just a few) adopted this style of overt approach, where velvet suits and unbuttoned shirts (up to the navel) and improbable blends of colors and patterns were commonplace.

In a more classic line of the 70s, we find icons of style that remain to this day Paul Newman, Steve McQueen, Yves Saint Laurent and Robert Redford.

Hair was plentiful, thick mustaches, and Studio 54 in New York was the "place" where people wanted to be (and be seen).

This dusty and "shameless" attitude in men's fashion has seen a revival in designers such as Alessandro Michele from Gucci, Tom Ford and Hedi Slimane (currently at Céline).
