O restaurante BALTHAZAR é uma basserie instalada no SoHo, em Nova Iorque, desde 1997 e que serve comida francesa tradicional.
Normalmente, é bastante concorrido e frequentado por locais, turistas e celebridades.
Teve a sua fama descrita num dos episódios da série Sex And The City, quando Carrie recorre a uma amiga hostess do restaurante para conseguir lugar, referindo-se à mesma como “a pessoa mais influente de Nova Iorque”.
Tinha reserva para as 19h e já estava completamente cheio. Pedi um Steak au Poivre, que vinha acompanhado com batatas fritas. Muito saboroso!
De sobremesa, escolhi a torta morna de chocolate com sorvete e provei os profiteroles, que também estavam de fazer crescer água na boca.
Ir ao BALTHAZAR é uma espécie de viagem no tempo. Sentimo-nos em plena Nova Iorque dos anos 30. A decoração remete a um decadente chic francês. Curioso referir que todas as indicações no restaurante estão em francês.
O staff é super atencioso e os preços condizem com todo este requinte. O que é certo é que vale mesmo a pena!
Gostei tanto que voltei no dia seguinte para o brunch (ao qual não fiz marcação), o que foi impossÃvel de conseguir.
No entanto, tomei um café e comi um croissant na padaria do BALTHAZAR que fica mesmo ao lado do restaurante, o que também foi bastante simpático.

The restaurant had his fame described in one of episodes of Sex And The City series, when Carrie asked to a friend hostess in the restaurant to obtain place, referring to her like "the most influential person of New York".
It had reservation for 7:00 PM and was almost completely full. I ordered a Steak au Poivre who accompanied with fries. Very tasty!
For dessert, I chose a chocolate pie with ice cream and I had a spoon of profiteroles, which tasted great also.
Going to BALTHAZAR is a kind of trip in time. We felt right in the middle of New York from the 1930's. Décor reminds us of a decadent french chic era (all the directions and words in the restaurant are in french).
The staff is super attentive and the prices are conditional with all this refinement. What is certain worth it!
I liked so much that I came back the next day for brunch, which was impossible to get without reservations.
However, I had a coffee and ate a croissant in the BALTHAZAR bakery which is next to the restaurant.
